As many companies turned to remote work during the pandemic, many people also adjusted their wardrobe to include more athleisure pieces. We all love and adore comfort, hence the rise in joggers, sweat pants, and yoga pants this past year, however, these clothing pieces should not be worn during your next virtual interview.
Even still, you should dress for success when it comes to interviews — whether in person or virtual. Dressing the part not only makes you appear and look professional to the interviewer, but also gives you more confidence. Leave behind the hoodies and wrinkled short-sleeve polo shirts. Instead, put on a solid color, long-sleeve, ironed, button-down shirt. This choice is always a winner.
Along with dressing for success during job interviews, you should also prepare in other ways too. For example, make sure to ask the recruiter or hiring manager any helpful information they can provide you before the interview to set you up for success. Also, during the virtual interview, make sure you stay engaged throughout, and be fully aware of your nonverbal communication.
